Elmont,NY-Calia stables Giants Victory lived up to his name on Saturday by registering his biggest win of his young life in capturing the GR-1 BEL Stakes. Giants Victory just seemed to be on cruise control as he waited patiently through the first three quarters of the race. Once asked to go he simply pulled well ahead of the field and was in front by four at the top of the stretch. From that point on he was never threatened and cruised home 5 lengths in front claiming the prestigious BEL, the third jewel of the spring classics.
Giants Victory, though young, is a seasoned runner. He had always showed signs of talent however back in April he began opening some eyes with his performance in the Wood Mem where he led to the very end only to lose in a head bob while earning 98 SRF speed figure. He then entered into the LS Derby and again led most of the way only to lose by one quarter of a length while earning an even better SRF figure of 100. Giants Victory was not entered into either the KY Derby or The PRK Stakes as Calia prepped him for the BEL. That preparation paid off in a Giant way in a great performance.
