Nine in IND Derby

RACE 2 HOO IND Derby (GII)
$500.000 3yo 1 1/16m Main Track
Nine are scheduled to be heading to the gate at HOO for their big race, the 2010 IND Derby (GII), a mile and a sixteenth test for the sophomores on Saturday. When last seen at MTH, Allfusionallthetime was giving Five Fives about all he wanted - and that spells victory to me, in this one. The Eastern Equine owned colt has three wins this season, including the Withers (GIII) back in Apr. Anything close to that runner-up race should be good enough.
Freddythefreeloadr is a hot-horse of late and after that gelding, he's won six of seven starts - the other was a close up second in the slop. Super trainer Australia Wide snagged this one out of the most recent sale for $335.000, and comes out firing hot - look for him to be ready.
Here's the Field -
1 Don B he's lightly raced but don't let that fool you - he can flat out run with the best of 'em. Pair of runner-up races after that win in the Dwyer (GII). I'd give him a hard look.
2 First One it's been a long summer for this one - everything seemed good until the KYD, and it's been a long road since. If he can find that old magic, maybe... if not... well...
3 Danzes Dancer pair of Alw wins this season, but has found stakes company a bit more than he likes. Solid third in the IA Derby (GIII) and I bet the barn would take similar here.
4 Fat Nick pair of third place finishes in the Haskel (GI) and Travers (GI) and sold at the just completed Auction for $350.000. The new barn is looking for more of the same - good form.
5 Freddy The Freeloadr four wins in a row and he also sold at the Sep Auction for $335.000. He's been a hand-full, and should be tough in this one as well.
6 Jasper Carrot he's been tough sprinting, and the barn tries to take him two-turns yet again. Hasn't worked out well of late, and I don't thing it will here either. Good be a rabbit for the stable-mate.
7 Maximum Flame has run big for the new barn since they plunked down $20.000 to take this one back in Mar. Closed fast in that mile race at DMR, so who knows?
8 Marquee Player caught in the YAV Derby, and this will be saltier than that race - he will need his best for a minor share of this one.
9 Allfusionallthetime gave Five Fives a bit of a tussle in the Haskel (GI) and if he runs back to that race, he should be tough today. I expect a win.
