From there she went on to get up into the second position by 3/4 mile mark. When they arrived at the top of the stretch she dueled to go on to win by a head. She covers the 11/8 mile turf in 1:47.97 for owner Mo Mentum Farm.
Allowances
New Bride raced her last month and she faced $25.000 claiming class and finished 1st after a wire to wire finish. Today she will try alw company at $28.000. She broke from the gate and was 6th. She knew that was going to get her in the winners circle, so when T Thornton asked for more, she gave him everything she has. She zooms by some of her competitors to get them at the wire by a nose. She covers the 5 furlongs dirt in :59.58 for owner Royalty Racing. Ravenous ships in from KEE when she failed to capture a win at $52.000 Alw company, but blew a 90 speed rating. Today Ravenous will face $28.000 alw company but will try a new surface, grass. She will attempt to take on this field in a distance that she has never run over and that is 11/8 mile. Going off 29.35-1 for owner Silver Star Stables, got to the lead out of the gate. Most spectators thought she wouldn’t last long on the lead. To their surprise she wired the field to win by 1 length. She covers the distance in 1:50.79.
Maiden Special Weight
Gabbi ships in from TP after facing MSW in her debut, she finished 3rd in that race. In todays race she receives a break in distance as she goes from 1 mile to 5 furlongs. Also today her trainer Meat adds Bute to her equipment. Out of the gate Gabbi heads towards the lead, and is only able to get in the second position by the first quarter. As they head into the turn she gets in control of the lead. She goes on to win by 2 lengths. She covers the distance in :59.64. Danal career was looking dim when she failed in her 19th attempt at trying to get her maiden victory at PEN in a $2.000 maiden claimer as she finished 4th. Today her owner Hillside Stables ships her to HAW where she will face only one other horse at 5 furlongs and on the turf. That is huge as last time she ran 31/2 furlongs longer on the dirt. Danal let her competitor Milling Gal take the lead all around the course. When they were in the stretch Danal rallied on to win by 3 lengths. She covers the distance in 1:01.69. This marks her first career win in 20 starts.
Claiming
Luscious Lisa only receives 14 days of rest before being sent in from KEE to HAW to race in claimers of $25.000. Her last race at KEE was in a $52.000 Alw and she finished a disappointing 6th. Her owner Rockitpad decides to try her on the turf and put her in for a tag. Luscious Lisa likes the cut in class, and breaks well out of the gate. Shortly after the quarter mile pole she took the lead to go on to win by 1 length. She covers the 5 furlongs turf in :59.27. Restless Spede is 0 for 13 lifetime, and ships in from TAM after finishing 3rd in a $12.500 Maiden Claimer there. Today he will face $25.000 maiden claimers, but will try the turf course for only his 4th time in his career. He currently is 0 for 3 on the turf, until today. Restless Spede wasn’t restless today as he goes gate to wire for his owner Hillside Stables. He covers the distance in 1:00.23, and this marks Hillside Stables second consecutive win on the card today. Smoken Nurse raced in the same class last time here last month. In that race Smoken Nurse looked good but didn’t make the distance to finish 5th at a distance of a mile and blew a 75 speed rating. Well today trainer Team 7 Illusions decides to keep the same class, but to drop her in distance to 51/2 furlongs turf. The change in distance seemed to work well as she goes gate to wire to win by 3 lengths. She covers the distance in 1:05.11.
Signing off for the last time:
It has been a great meet here at the Thorne. I have had a blast covering my first full meet, and really enjoying watching the owners duel for their spot in the hall of fame. Well that is all we have at the Thorne for now. I hope to see all of you at Canterbury Park (CBY), that is where I’m heading to for now.
Until next time this is Iwin signing off!
