This is the ninth year that the SSM Fillies & Mares Turf has been run at HRP. In the past eight years there has been no trainer that has won this race more than once. Back in 2011 trainer Chateau Gill saddled the winner Madame Harriet who holds the race record with a time of 1:45.43. The track record was set by Charming Behrens with a time of 1:44.48 saddled by Bush Wackers Of Ohio on January 30, 2010. The track has been firm there and it looks like there is about a 30 to 40 percent chance of rain each day before this big race each. Lets look at the 2012 entries

Suleena was quick to make her first start of the year here in the Grade III Marshuas River Stakes where she missed to be third by one. Her last win came in November down at Fair Grounds in the Hop Stakes $75.000. She is built for the long distances over the sod, and loves the off course. Has a pair of seconds best workouts over the sod here at Gulfstream Park. Her SRF Speed Figures rank among the highest in this field. Looks sharp as she gets ready to bounce back in her second start of the year!

Hails Ground comes into this race Saturday off a win at Tampa Bay Downs in December against Florida Statebreds Allowance company Non Winners of one race. His other win is at Calder Race Course against Claiming $20.000 Non Winners of two Lifetime. Has been training in Florida, but no bullet workouts in her last two workouts. Her SRF Speed Figures rate in the middle of this four horse field. Looks like she has a chance to hit the board, with this small field.

Cheval En Argent has been training at Gulfstream Park and in her last three workouts has no bullets. Her SRF Speed Figures are the lowest among the rest here. Her Maiden and only win comes from a win at Tampa Bay Downs in February last year. Since then she has made six starts and she has finished second once. She does not have a lot going for her, except she drew a small field. Maybe Joe Bravo can get the job done, but I expect her to be the longshot.

Deal Breaker makes her fourth start for her new owner since she was claimed in September 2011 for $20.000. since then in her first start for Dynark Stables she beat a Starter Allowance class at Belmont at a mile on the dirt. She did finish second by a length in an Optional Claimer $80.000 Non Winners of 4 races here going a mile and a sixteenth over the sod. She looks ready here as she draws the outside post in a four horse field where SRF Speed Figures rate among the best.
