RACE 6 GG San Francisco Mile (GIII)

Five older turf horses will be headed post-ward on Saturday in the San Francisco Mile (GIII) at GG. This is one of those races where if a horse fires his best race, it should land them in the winner's circle - but who's ready to do just that? I'm going to give the nod to Specialist - I like that effort last out where he pulled away from Alw horses at FG to win by day-light. He's never been worse than second in eight lifetime starts, and it may be time for this one to take his game to the next level.
Spiritual Fusion and Dense Turf have been running well, and you could make a case for the other two, as well - it should be a good one.

1 Trench Bismo Ken Allan Baze R A 123
After a 3yo season where he earned a half-mil, his 4yo season is just not coming together as planned. Fifth v. Alw horses, then nailed late at the FG facing LA-bred stakes company. That's a far cry from winning the HOL Derby (GI), but maybe he gets back on track and fires big today.
2 Dense Turf Some Devil Racing Alvarado F T 125
Big late effort to be third in the Arcadia (GII) at SA in his most recent. He loves this mile distance, loves the grass and has a couple of decent efforts here at GG - he's also had a couple of icky ones, as well.
3 Spiritual Fusion Eastern Equine Hernandez J J 123
Nice run to be second in the Kilroe Mile (GI) at SA last out, and he was facing some BIG horses in that one. He was 114/1 in that race but I wouldn't expect anything like that here today. Looks like EE has this one in fine form.
4 Specialist Sarah Stables Figueroa O 123
Blew away Alw horses at FG, winning by four. He just missed in a GIII race there prior to that, has a couple of bullet works getting ready for today, and I'd expect him to make an impact in this one.
5 First Light Triple K Gryder A T 123
His bad habit of tiring in the late stages just keeps on coming. Right in the mix mid-way down the lane in the Pan Am (GIII) at GP, then backed up to be fourth. That was a mile and a half, but he's done it at just about ANY distance.
