Gold Rush at GG  for a purse of $75.000 run at one mile on Saturday, December 11.

1    Watch 4 The Sailor         owner/breeder: Deschutes Racing (Cal*)

grey colt by Sindbad The Sailor-Watch 4 Trench, by Trench Coat

TC nominated colt was second in the Grade II HOL Prevue Stakes last following a win in the $55.000 Goodman Stakes also at HOL. This will be his first time around two turns, but his conformation says OK. He has won half his six starts and never been out of the money. He should be closing strong for the win when they turn for home. He blew-out in an impressive :46 3/5H.

9    Paisano Phil                    owner/breeder: Nakamura Stables (NY*)

chestnut colt by Kapai Kiwi-La Cortezana

Scored a driving win in the $100.000 NY Stallion Series - Great White Way for NY-breds. The win was his third in six starts in a career that includes a third in the $100.000 CT Juvenile. His latest work was 1:13 2/5H at LA. This will be his first time farther than seven furlongs, but he's done nothing to me make think he can't get the distance.

7    Lookout Below                               owner: Boulevard                  breeder: La Canada Racehorses (WV)

grey colt by Phone Flinger-Lookout Mountain, by One Bullet Barney

Picked up by his current connections for $20.000 from his breeder, he placed in and won overnighters at BEL and CD before running out of the Grade II KY Jockey Club at CD. He has won half of his six starts and has plenty of experience with routes, having been dedicated to 1 1/16 mile races by his current owner. His route works and conformation indicate that is the right path. He will be strong at the wire.

6    Barring Tor                      owner: Joseph Racing         breeder: Barcelona Farms (Cal*)

chestnut gelding by Aqualung-Round Turn

After finishing a narrowly beaten fourth in his debut, he was gelded and hasn't finished worse than second since, winning two of the four. His last run was a game second in the $75.000 Dover at DEL at 1 1/16 mile. That race was longer than this one and he was still running at the wire, so he figures to be a factor at the finish of this one. He breezed five furlongs in 1:01 locally in prep for this.

3    Silent Laugh                    owner: Strangefate Stables   breeder: Barking Stables (Tex)

black colt by Silent Explosion-Sheza Laffin, by Die Laffin

I figure the closing third at seven furlongs last will help this one. Two races back he stalked his way to second in the $100.000 My Dandy TX Stallion Stakes for Texas-breds. He blew out in :36H for this, and is my long shot tab for this race.

4    Iron Chito                        owner/breeder: Quintis Racing (NJ*)

grey colt by Shilup Chito-Iron Princess, by Joint Venture

This lightly-raced colt draws the morning line favouritism for a sharp win at HAW in his second route run. In two runs at a mile or more, he has come home first in both. His conformation almost screams sprinter, but he has other ideas about it and the mile works underscore that attitude. His latest work was a speedy 1:00 2/5H at BEL.

5    Watch Out                       owner: Running Farms         breeder: Precision (AZ)

bay gelding by HRP-Star Watch-HRP-Twosy

Until his last run in the Grade II Nashua, he had been undefeated at a mile or more. He returns to the sort of company with which he should be a factor here. He went a respectable 1:13 4/5 at CD as his final public prep for this. If the pace sets up to his liking and he stays in contact with the field around the turn, I expect he will be charging at the wire.

8    The Great Rivera             owner/breeder: TwinTowersRacing (Cal*)

bay colt by Kimbo Slice-Hessie

This TC nominated colt ran out of gas in the stretch of a one mile 70 yard overnight event at CRC last after folding early in the Grade I Hopeful. Prior to that he scored his maiden win at 5 1/2 furlongs at DMR. He worked 1:13 3/5 locally for this. Let us hope the 70 yards less works to his favour.
