Four starters entered the gate at FL on Saturday for the NY Breeders Futurity and one dominated the field winning by an easy four lengths. Harbour Scene from Fuji Stables has run some decent races in the past but this one was by far his best performance to date.
From the break the colt tucked in nicely behind early leader Natal Danseur who broke cleanly and blasted to the front with ease over the other three entries. There was no one to contest the Blushing Meadows runner until turning for home when Harbour Scene, who was already well on his way to taking over the lead, came up to challenge the tiring leader. Cerutu and The Iron still remained zero factor and left it to the two to battle it out down the stretch. It was not much of a battle though as Natal Danseur tired and Harbour Scene just opened up his lead with each and every jump, winning the $200.000 state bred stake by an easy four lengths.
2nd Natal Danseur led the entire race until turning for home, setting very fast fractions for a two-year-old. He tired because of trying to keep up with that pace and ran a respectable second.
3rd Cerutu was in second position for a portion of the race but never made any sort of move and finished third by six lengths.
4th The Iron was not a threat to any of the runners in the field and ran a flat fourth by nine lengths.
This was Harbour Scenes first ever stakes win in his first ever attempt. His lifetime record is now two wins out of five starts with earnings of $168.850.
