A nice days racing at FL kicked off with a state bred open maiden for two year olds over six furlongs. In a good finish with only a length separating first, second and third it was the favourite, Personal Jet from Truitt Stables that prevailed by a half length. The homebred had run an encouraging debut at MNR and was away quickly today to make every post a winning one, holding on by a shortening half length. Remembering Ryan sat midfield and made good progress without really ever getting to the leader, that is three placings for three on the track though and this consistent sort must find a race soon. The performance of the race came from third placed Playing For Real who ran an eye catching debut, this auto gen son of Woodman could be a useful recruit for new trainer Pan Farms.
Next to go was a mile and seventy yard maiden for two year old fillies. Chance Fantastique from Drabfantasy was on debut today and after breaking well just cantered home by a hugely impressive four lengths. The future is bright for this home bred daughter of Sweepstakes who never looked in danger of being over taken. The hot favourite Diamonds All Around was slowly away and was given too much to do but even though she stayed on well enough she never looked a threat to the winner. Another Rainname was close up on the rail throughout but looked like a doubtful stayer at the end finishing five lengths behind the winner.
The open claimer for threes and up was over five furlongs and went to the widely drawn Easy Flight who put some disappointing runs behind him with an all the way one length win for Sour Apple Stables. Uncivilised was in the pack and kept on well enough for second in the seven year olds fifty fourth appearance whilst Winner Winner, a consistent sort, had a great position but never quickened up in third.
Four went to post for the fillies and mares claimer over a mile and seventy yards and there was a very easy win for the unbackable favourite. Claimed by Orinoco Stable after a five length win last time the trainer lost the horse today as she was claimed by Thinken Stables after her six length win. Rosies Joppa was the rank outsider but made a fist of it for a while before being out classed by the winner, she ended up a creditable but distant second. Storm Gails competed for the lead for the first half of the race but lost the battle and weakened into third.
The last race of the day was a fillies and mares allowance over a mile and an eighth. Pouncing Kat took the four runner event with ease for Simmer Down Stables confirming previous form with the runner up. Sitting just behind the leaders the three year old now with nine wins from fourteen appearances won as she liked from Go Jane Go. The runner up tried hard but never had the pace of the winner but held third placed Virginne who was another four lengths back in third.
