Only two races went at FL today in a disappointing show. The first of the two was a fillies and mares allowance over five furlongs and it was the favourite Floating Heart from Mojica Stable that managed to dead heat with the second favourite Hurakan in a stirring finish. The three year old home bred has been well placed to win seven from ten and this was her sixth in a row and her biggest purse to date. Away well she vied for the lead throughout and just got home in a driving finish. Hurakan trained by Big V Stables gave her trainer a nineteenth win of the year a good victory for a horse that was claimed for only $2.000. Miss Prime Minister could not live with these two in the stretch after competing for a while and ended up a five length third.
The only other race of the day was a six furlong allowance for two year old fillies. Golden Stables saddled Tygon Americana who they bought at auction for $19.000 and watched as the filly battled on for a half length win. The daughter of Air Jaws had won on debut at MNR and was given plenty of time between runs to show the required improvement to take a race like this. She was quickly on the speed after an average start and had a half length to spare come the line. Cat Ballou had a slow start and was taken out the back early on, she weaved her way through but had a poor trip and ended up a late closing second. Blossom raced on the pace and got her nose in front at one point but was out battled into a close up third.
