Four of todays six races went off at FL today in a day of good racing and sunny skies. The first event was a statebred two year old fillies allowance over six furlongs and a competitive race saw Kandy Korn from Flaker Farms come home a length clear. Sitting midfield the homebred by Joppa made stealthy headway and ran out a fairly comfortable winner in the end. Eternal Glory ran her fourth second in a row leading most of the way but getting flat footed in the stretch. A Jazzy Venture was a further three quarters of a length back in third keeping on from further back and looking like a mile is going to be her best trip.
Next to go was an open two year old maiden over a mile and seventy yards. Starstreaker from Byalength Stable caught the eye on debut finishing a close up fifth and took advantage of that experience and a kinder draw today to make all the running and win by a length. Northern Blade has never been out of the first three and ran another honest race running on strongly from the back to dead heat for second with Regal Ransom who came from a similar spot and has a similar record of a one hundred percent places.
The maiden claimer for two year old fillies was over five and a half furlongs. The hot favourite was Greener Pastures from Mo Mentum Farms and who raced on the speed and won by a length. The home bred has been gradually improving but still has a way to go if she wants to make her mark in allowances in the future. Acula only cost a dollar at auction and stayed on well to finish second and got an entry into the notebooks for her next run in this grade. Ayrshire Lass was big odds but ran a competent race keeping on on the rail for a three length third.
The last race of the day was an open claimer for three year olds and up and saw a Thinken Stables one two as both the stables runners fought out the finish. In the end it was the less fancied Easter who gained his third win in a row after sitting at the rear and running on stoutly to get home by a quarter of a length. Cat Rarely Led for a lot of the trip and looked like he could win in the stretch but just gave best to his stable mate in the end. Santas Sack was less than a length off the winner in third after competing the lead most of the way.
