Saturday January 21, 2012
Purse: $100.000
Hello from the Fair Grounds and on Saturday January 21, 2012 the 7th running of the Grade III Bradley Handicap will be run. Last years winner came from the barn of owner Spintingling, as the owner sent out Gurgling to a three quarters of a length victory in a time of 1:39.95. This year there will be a field of eight contenders and all look to grab the spotlight here at the Fair Grounds with a victory. Lets take a look at the starters shall we.
1 Dark
Nevada 16 / 6 / 4 / 3 $332.620
O/B Ken Allan
S. Bridgmohan
Comes into Saturday a winner of three in a row. In his last victory he took his show to Calder Race Course and beat Grade II competition in the McKnight Handicap. That is now his third win in a row on the turf since moving back to the lawn in August. His other victories came in the Grade III Sycamore at Keenland and in against oclm for $80.000. He looks poised and ready to go for Ken Allan and will be ready to go on Saturday.
2 Power Creek 22 / 8 / 8 / 5 $$456.490
Sanny Village
R. Albarado
Makes his second start for owner
Sanny
Village on Saturday. In his first start which came in the Grade I HOL Turf Cup he finished third behind winner Bronze Sabre and Duckes and Drakes. He will shorten up from that last start which came at a mile and a half distance and this time there will be neither of those two runners in this one. He looks to be a major player in here, as he makes a return to the Fair Grounds.
3 Soviet Flash 14 / 5 / 3 / 1 $290.400
Riggins Racing
J. Campbell
A winner of the $75.000 Woodchopper Stakes here at the Fair Grounds last time out will try making it two in a row for owner Riggins Racing. This is the third start for the barn and the other run was at Calder in the $75.000 Tropical Park Derby in which he ran fifth beaten by a length. He now climbs back in with Graded Stakes Company since his fifth place finish in the Grade II VA Derby. He comes in from a top barn that knows how to win and think he will be ready to go on Saturday.
4 Pakistani Pirate 10 / 6 / 1 / 0 $80.220
Blushing Meadows
J. Theriot
A winner in six of his ten career starts will take his first crack at Stakes competition. Beating Allowance Company at Philly Park last time out will make his third start for owner Blushing Meadows. All six of his victories have come on the turf course with him also winning five of eight going long. The question is does he have what it takes to get the job done on Saturday? We shall see.
5 Whakaflash 31 / 9 / 5 / 3 $185.690
O/B Ekli Stable
R. Eramia
Looked really good in his last start when beating Allowance Company at
Tampa. Breaking the track record in that last race when going one mile on the turf in 1:32.91 will look to keep rolling on Saturday. He seems to be getting better with age and will enter just his second Graded Stakes Event. His last one came in February in the Grade III Canadian Turf at GP where he finished ninth behind winner Purple Ripple. He looks to be a player on Saturday if he can bring another performance like that last one.
6 Welcome Home 19 / 6 / 2 / 3 $202.920
Eastern Equine
J. Bridgmohan
Nosed out in his last one here at the Fair Grounds. The old boy of the group will make his first run as a 6yo. Running in the $100.000 LCD Turf for State Breds he hopes to make his way back to the winners circle since beating oclm for $80.000 at Woodbine back in September. His last Graded Stakes run was in the Grade II OT Mile at Santa Anita where he was sixth behind winner War Chant. He has a tough task come Saturday and will need to be at his best.
7 World Series 16 / 4 / 4 / 2 $111.360
Lanfranco Stable
J. Graham
Makes his second appearance for owner Lanfranco Stable. In his first start for the new barn he took on Allowance Company at GP and finished second beaten a length. Today the 5yo gelding makes his first start in a Graded Stakes Race and hopes to make a trip to the winners circle for the owner. He has run eight times in the money out of thirteen starts with three of those victories. Has been training well down in
Florida for this and may look to grab a chunk of this come Saturday.
8 The Windy City 7 / 3 / 1 / 1 $37.540
Mb Stables
C. Lanerie
Moves back to the turf course on Saturday after running fourth in the $75.000 Tenacious Handicap here at FG. In three career starts on the turf he has won two of the three. Beating N2L and N3L and will hope to handle these. He makes his third start for owner Mb Stables and looks to make it a good one. He has only made seven career runs and this one could be sweet if he could get to the winners circle against the veterans.
Until next time this is Iwin signing off!
