I think Team 7 Illusions has found a nice team - give C Beckon the leg-up on Badge Of Shame, send them as hard as you can right from the gate, win, take a picture, get the check and call it a day. That team took Sunday's Rainbow Connection Stakes at FE, just as they had back in July, this time winning by the slightest of margins over Twice The Joy, taking the winner's share of the $125.000 purse.
The five ladies loaded up on the FE turf course, and as the gate sprung open, Badge Of Shame was on the accelerator and had a half-length lead on stable-mate Fescue Recue from the far outside. Another three-quarters of a length, Engrave gave chase, then Twice The Joy down along the rail and Black Lotus was the early trailer.
Down the backside and just edging into the turn, Badge Of Shame and Fescue Rescue were winging it on the front end. Another length and a half back, Engrave was still in hot pursuit with Twice The Joy just to his inside and Black Lotus was showing no speed and triled, five and half lengths from the leader.
Around the turn, into the lane and now at the furlong pole, Badge Of Shame skipped away and now led by a lenth and a half. Fescue Rescue looked a bit tired as Engrave got rolling from the outside, then Twice The Joy between horses and Black Lotus wanted this to be done as quickly as possible.
Now in deep stretch, there were inside the final 150-yards and headed to the tape, Badge Of Shame was still in front, but Twice The Joy was closing in quickly and that pair hit the wire with absolutely nothing in it at all, as the PHOTO sign went up. After viewing the photograph, Badge Of Shame had a nose on the wire, just a hair to the good and took the victory. Twice The Joy just missed in a very game effort, with Engrave in third, Fescue Rescue tiring to be fourth and Black Lotus closed out the field.
Badge Of Shame is a 4yo bay filly by HRP-Mr Standfast - HRP-Miss Molly, by HRP-Molvedo, and she was bred in ON by her owner, Team 7 Illusions. This was her fourth win from six starts, and her second consecutive ON-bred sprint stakes win.

RECAP Badge Of Shame broke well, raced head-and-head to the furlong marker, gained a clear advantage, all out for a narrow win. Twice The Joy broke in hand, allowed to settle off of the pace, accelerated when asked, just missed. Engrave raced evenly, no late response. Fescue Rescue, away quickly, pressed the pace to the top of the lane, tired. Black Lotus was never involved.
