13 FE   Rainbow Connection Stakes
$125.000  3yo&Up  F&M  ON Bred    5f Turf

Ladies Venture doesn't make it to the track all that ofter - when she does, get out your savings and go to the window...  The bay filly  took on challenges for half of the water-bogged 5f test, and then motored away to win by three, taking the Rainbow Connection Stakes by two, over a course that was rated yielding.

The small field of four loaded and broke well, as Taku tried to get the jump on the small field.  Ladies Venture showed her normal early foot, just off of that ones throat.  Power Hanna was between that pair, about three-quarters of a length behind.  It was another length back to Just Royally Crowned.

Into the turn, their were three furlongs to run, Ladies Venture just got a nose in front of Taku along the hedge.  Power Hannah was still right in the mix as Just Royally Crowned dropped over to the rail, about three lengths from the leader.

Through the far turn and to the top of the lane,  M Ramirez just gave Ladies Venture her head and she responded to open up a two length advantage.  Taku was staying on in second with Power Hannah third and Just Royally Crowned still last, about six lengths back.

Down inside the last 150-yards and to the wire, Ladies Venture cruised home by three, stopping the time in 1:00 flat and taking home the winners share.  Taku was second, two lengths in front of Power Hannah, who just stayed in front of Just Royally Crowned, for third.

Ladies Venture is a 4yo filly by Joint Venture - Ladies First, and was bred in ON by her owner.  This was her fourth victory from ten starts, and she has now won both of her 2008 outings.  Her winnings now stand at $188.320.

$2 Mutuel Prices:
4 - Ladies Venture 2.80 2.10
1 - Taku   2.40
Track: Yielding
Time: :23   :472  1:00
$1 Exacta: 4 - 1 Paid 4.60

Scratched: None

Recap- Ladies Venture broke well, led after 2f, and widened late.  Taku broke sharpest of all and was no match for the winner while clearly second best.  Power Hannah raced with the top flight for four furlongs and could not improve from there.  Just Royally Crowned was no factor.
