Purse: 100.000
July 4 , 2009 Race # 7 post time 21.20
# 1 ) War Hero - The 6 - 1 shot surprised the field as he came into todays race with his running shoes on. Sitting third at the start just two lengths behind , as jockey B.C Patin got him moving on the backside pulling with in a length of the leader. He then looked the leader in the eye and went cruising on bye to win by one. Winning the mile and a sixteenth in a time of 1:41.38 breaking The Track Record here under the lights at EVD for owner and breeder Icegator Stable. Congrats.
# 3 )Champagneforlunch - Was dead last at the start buying his time tried coming from out of the clouds , as he made up a lot of ground but fell short to the winners War Hero. Finishing second by one as owner and breeder C R K Stable picked up the second place money.
# 2 ) Make It Official - The big favorite for todays race ( 0.25 ) fell short. Grabbing the lead after fighting off American Dream to the quarter pole. The 6yro could not hang in the stretch , as he gave up the lead to finish third by two. Owner and breeder Team 7 Illusions picked up third place money.
# 5 ) Top Kancha - Was away fourth at the start but was never closer than two lengths. He went the mile and a sixteenth running fourth all the way around and was four lengths behind at the finish. Owner and breeder Ken Allen grabbed the fourth place check.
# 4 ) High Power - Never took to the turf course like owner Saratoga Stud had hopped in his first try on the sod. Was away fifth when the doors opened and he ended that way when he finished at the wire.
# 6 ) American Dream - Also trying turf for the first time battled with favorite Make It Official on the backside but threw in the towel into the stretch. The nine extra pounds hurt him and finished sixth for owner and breeder Sarah Stables.
