All that remains of the old Longacres track is a plaque in a shopping mall parking lot, and this race... well, and some memories. Let's take a look at the five entrants for the 2010 Longacres Mile (GIII) [BC]. If they beat Jingle Bells, it will be the first time it's happened in 2010, and you will take my $2.00. Australia Wide has done a perfect job of getting him ready and putting him right where he belongs - a true master! I think it's another perfect spot, and can't go past him.
Let's put Blades Speed Talker in the second spot, and the Mj Racing trained colt has been just a tick off of getting it done of late. Now he catches a tiger, but should be able to complete the exacta, even if it does pay $4.20.
Here's the Field -
1 Heavens Memory he's as solid as a rock - either in the picture booth or giving them heck to the wire. He is stepping up in class a bit, going after graded types, but you have to give him a serious look on his form.
2 Running Down A Dream another that is usually around when they hand out checks, and another that is taking a serious step up in class... this ain't YAV, Toto!
3 Born From A Voucher Dynark has been bouncing him back and forth from turf to dirt over his last few races, so there must be something to this. I think he is a contender, and would certainly use him on the exacta ticket.
4 Blades Speed Talker he's been knocking on the door, but doesn't show a win since Feb. He certainly warrants a hard look, and he's another that should be used in the gimmicks.
5 Jingle Bells the poster child for why AW is one of the (if not THE) best conditioners in the land. A perfect four-for four this season, and just know how to get the job done. I look for a fifth win in this one.
