EMD Derby has Field of Nine

1 EMD    EMD Derby
$100.000 Added ($107.500)   3yo   1 1/8m  Dirt

Nine 3yo's will answer the call to post for the 2008 running of the EMD Derby and this looks to be a one-sided race to me.  Look Now has a lone score this season - by the same token, he's banked $192.000 chasing some very nice horses.  Back-to-back graded placings, and he will see nothing like that today, makes him a heavy favorite.  Let's look for the chestnut to use his tactical speed to set the table and then explode  late to win this in handy fashion.   Here's the Field -

1  Hokeykokey Dance  he hasn't gotten the job done since Jun, and that was v. state-breds.  Failed as the luke-warm favorite at CBY last out and doesn't show a work over this strip.

2  Fras Grois  tagged back in Jan and only has three starts since.  However, those last two have been large victories, even though it was v. Alw types.  He also doesn't show a local work.

3  Good Beat  up and down sort, and that last race was a big time downer.  Of course, he won prior to that, so I'm not sure what to expect.  Nice gallop here the other day.

4  Anton Chejov  hasn't seen stakes company since Mar, although he has been getting checks while facing Alw foes.  That was a nice late kick to get the job done last out, so maybe....

5  Seaburial  two wins from his nine starts, and he's usually around to get a check.  This is his first try at stakes company and I'll be surprised if he takes the big check here.

6  Look Now  although he only has the one victory this season, he's been facing some of the best sophomores in all the land.  Nice third at SAR last out and just missed at BEL prior to that - both graded events.  He looks the one to beat.

7  Hoosac Valley  he has a couple of wins from his eleven starts, but I think this is a bit of an acid test for him.  A small check may be the best that can be expected.

8  Hard Like A Rock  another that has been getting check while racing with Alw foes and was trounced in a GI event back in Apr.  He also will be fighting for a minor share.

9  Wrigley  only four starts this year and not a single victory to show for it.  If he were to win this, I think the tote would light-up like a christmas tree.
