Co MD Bud Longshot Copious Notes defeated a tough, talented field of nine other foes to take the $350.000 Longacres Mile at EMD this Sunday.

The Avalos Racing four year old gelding had enough left in the tank after racing wide and losing some ground early, to hold off talented Mehsod from Team 7 Illusions, who received a perfect trip.

Ken Allan's Scheme ran surprisingly well to show at over 41:1 odds, and former TC contender Sweet Talkin Jed was fourth.  Barking Stable's Lord Fielding failed to factor, having little excuse.  Australia Wide's Pavarotti was impeded throughout, losing all chance by the time the field straightened out for home.

It was the ninth career victory in seventeen starts for the winner, pushing his career earnings past the $575.000 mark.

#10      Carried 5 wide into the clubhouse turn losing ground, was pressed forward into the backstretch to contest the pace 3 wide, was up to bid 4 wide turning for home, and prevailed late in a furious stretch duel with talented foe.

#2        Out swiftly inside to press the pace early, maintained close up position through the far turn, gained slightest advantage at the top of the lane, and gamely continued on to the wire, just not good enough this day.

#4        Between horses up close 3 wide early, loomed 3 wide with clear racing room at the top of the lane, but was unable to improve position late while flattening out a bit.

#7        Straight to the front with good jump to set pace into the clubhouse turn 3 wide, dueled with foes through the far turn, then gave way mid stretch while tiring late.

#3        Outrun to clubhouse turn mid pack, in traffic top of the lane still not out of it, but was unable to improve position down the stretch.

#8        Trailed early 2 path, blocked badly along the rail into the far turn, forced way through traffic 3 wide top of the lane, and came home nicely late, too tardy to factor.

#6        Pressed pace 4 wide into clubhouse turn, advanced forward down the back side to get into stalking range still 4 wide, but quickly gave way, unable to sustain pace.

#9        Widest of all, some six paths off the rail losing ground around the clubhouse turn, continued to lug out still 5 wide around the far turn, and never stood a chance down the lane.

#1        Outrun inside to the clubhouse turn, and showed little the rest of the way.

#5        Off slowly between horses in traffic early, and was outrun the rest of the way.

Horses to watch:

#8        Pavarotti was poorly ridden by usual dependable jockey M Berry, and had little chance to show talent here on Sunday.

#3        Lord Fielding was a disappointment here, having little excuse to not have factored here today.

#4        Scheme ran surprisingly well Sunday, finishing third at almost 42:1 odds.
