IM Smokin Stakes
Purse $100.000 For Two Year Olds Foaled In CA
1) Break The Fashion (Canadian Racing) - This colt impressed in his maiden breaker last time out at DMR, winning by a solid margin in a sharp time. Big step up but could be a wildcard.
2) Legend Streaker (Kopites) - Returns to the dirt after a few grass starts this summer, but is still looking for that first lifetime win. Tough place to get it here.
3) Happy Ace (The Fox) - This gelding has been knocking on the door in his previous three starts, all top class nw1x races. The only concern may be whether this son of Happy Runner prefers the turf over the dirt. Still one has to consider him a very strong candidate for the win.
4) Uncle Nor (Big Guns Stables) - A disapointing effort in the Graduation Stakes last time out finishing last. Not a great race to work off and I think he'll be still in tough here.
5) All Time High (Dynark Stables) - Sharp morning works has not translated into any success on the track as this colt is still looking for his first lifetime win. Unless he can turn it around quickly he won't have much luck here.
6) Fifties Beer (Barcelona Farms) - Has been close in both in his two starts with mid level allowance company following his maiden win back in April. Could benefit from an early speed duel if he gets spotted well off the gate.
7) Ancient Explorer (Gluefactory) - This son of Arctic Explorer has been on the shelf since his maiden win at HOL back in April. He has been breezing very well over the summer and should have the speed to compete here. Fitness may be an issue with the four month layoff.
