We now close the doors here at
Del Mar. It was a great summer of racing with a lot of owners sending their Top horses to this incredible meet. We had a tight finish in the Wins column and some horses that stood out at this meet. Lets take a look on how the meet here at
Del Mar unfolded.
This years winner of the 2011 Del Mar Meet belongs to owner Dynark Stables. The owner hung on in the final days of the meet to beat owner Barcelona Farms 18 to 17. Dynark Stables sent out 80 entries to owner Barcelona Farms 66 and what a great finish to the wire it was. Finishing in third was owner Riggins Racing winning 8 of the 17 runners that the barn sent out.
Lets take a look at the owners that took home the most cash from this meet. The Top cash owner was owner Dynark Stables taking home $1.218.340. In second was owner Barcelona Farms bringing home $814.270 and in third was owner Paradise Stable grabbing $728.790 for his barns efforts.
I would now like to acknowledge the owners that had a great Winning Percentage. These owners only sent out a few runners and got them to the
Winners Circle. The owner with the best percentage was Riggins Racing sending out 17 horses and getting 8 to the circle for a 47 Win Percentage. Second was owner Rouge River Stables winning with 6 of 14 starters and a 42 Win Percentage. In third was owner Kingelleinc winning with 4 of the barns 10 runners for a 40 Winning Percentage.
So we now take a look at the guys and girls that make it possible to get to the
Winners Circle... The Jockies. This years winner of the Jockey Title is no surprise as Rafael Bejarano grabbed the Meet Title. Winning 52 of his 171 mounts he easily took the title by twenty wins. Finishing in second was jockey Garrett Gomez winning 32 of his 129 mounts and in third was David Flores grabbing 20wins in 132 mounts.
It is now time to acknowledge some of the nice horses that ran over the
Del Mar strip. The horse that earned the most money and the talk of the meet was owner Yahudi Stables Poolside Ec. The filly surprised the boys in the Grade I Pacific Classic and took home a check worth $600.000. Other horses that did well here at
Del Mar were owner Axeman Bright Navy. Going 2 for 2 and taking home the Grade II DMR Derby. Another runner that did well was for owner Boulevard and that was Out Of Reach. Also going 2 for 2 and taking the Grade II DMR Mile. Last but not least there was one Track Record to report and that goes to owner Dynark Stables Polar Pride. Going a mile and a sixteenth in 1:40.49, as he went on to win the Grade II San Diego Handicap by 2 lengths.
It has been a Great Meet and I was Happy to be part of it. We now move on to Santa Anita at the end of the month and I am sure I will be seeing you all there.
This is Choppy I am OUT!
