RACE 11 CT    CT Classic (GIII)
     $1,000.000               4yo&Up    1 1/8m   Dirt

Queue the Elton John music... the bitch is back!  Isn't it amazing?  Mrs Bombastic runs second and third in back to back races and she's written off for dead - after Saturday's CT Classic (GIII) those nay sayers will be backing off... taking the $1,000.000 race by a neck, getting the mile and an eighth in 1:49 on a track listed as 'good'.  Madhouse ran another huge race to be second with Edward III three lengths back in third.

Away from the gate, Charming Behrens away quickly, Five Fives up to go early with that one, Hermit along the rail and Mrs Bombastic in the middle of the track.  The trio of Madhouse, Larry Lehew and Edward III just behind her, and Pip Boy was the early trailer.

Around the far turn and into the lane the first time on the CT 6f oval, Charming Behrens had a two length advantage.  Five Fives and Hermit together, gap of three to Mrs Bombastic, Madhouse next to her, then a length to Pip Boy, Larry Lehew and Edward III.

Making their way around the clubhouse turn and onto the backside with a half mile to run, Charming Behrens was making the turf-to-dirt players look smart, as he led by nearly three lengths.  Five Fives and Hermit watching from afar, Mrs Bombastic a length behind those two.  Another length, to the trio of Madhouse, Pip Boy, Edward III and Larry Lehew had a lot of work to do.

Past the three-sixteenth's pole, they were nearing the top of the lane and we had three BIG horses across the track.  Charming Behrens was now just a neck in front of Mrs Bombastic, Madhouse swinging four wide for the drive.  Five Fives trying to find more, two length back, Pip Boy next to that one, Hermit still on the rail, Edward III next to that one and Larry Lehew dropped out of it.

Moving thru the lane, Mrs Bombastic had the lead, but Madhouse was coming to her as they were pulling away from the field.

Inside the final 150-yards and to the finish, Mrs Bombastic was full of run in this one and went under the wire in front by a neck.  Madhouse was a very game second, the three lengths back to Edward III in third.  45/1 Pip Boy was fourth, a tiring Charming Behrens fifth, Five Fives, Larry Lehew in seventh and Hermit closed out the field.

Mrs Bombastic is a 4yo bay filly by Wild Chippy - Cliche, by HRP-Atan, and she was bred by Blushing Meadows in Cal.  This was her twelfth win from twenty starts, and she now shows a staggering $4,659.390 in earnings - what a filly!

RECAP   Mrs Bombastic rated off of the early pace, up thru the final turn to engage the leader, pressed clear, drifted, up.  Mad House broke in hand, rated behind the pace while unhurried, set down for the drive, pushed out deep lane, could not get to winner. Edward III rated back early, closed in the lane, no threat to top pair. Charming Behrens broke alertly, set the pace to the furlong marker, headed, folded. Five Fives broke well, steady fade. Larry Lehew was outrun. Hermit flashed speed along the rail, stopped.
