One Mile and Eighth Turf
For Fillies and Mares 3yo and Upward
Purse: $100.000
Welcome back to Colonial Downs and the sixth running of the Grade III All Along BC Stakes. We had six ladies go out for this and all trying to add a Grade III race to their resume. Lets now take a look to see on how the race unfolded.
This years winner of the Grade III All Along BC Stakes was # 4 Grand Flyer. Coming in off a heartbreaking defeat by a head in the Grade III Gallorette Handicap at Pimlico was ready to go today. Getting out of the gate and right to the lead, as she turned the corner jockey J. Stein went to work on the 4yo filly and she responded by keeping the others behind and going on to win this by a length. Winning in a time of 1:46.94 for the mile and an eighth on the sod and for owner and breeder Downwind Stables. The owner picks up $60.000 for the top prize.
2nd # 2 Fusionz ~ A pair of close calls in her last two looked to get over the hump and back to the winners circle. Away second at the break and keeping Grand Flyer in her sights, as she turned the corner she tried getting to her but could not on this day and settled for second. Owner and breeder Eastern Equine picks up a check for $20.000.
3rd # 5 Le Freak ~ Ran well against Graded Stakes company in her last two but the favorite today could not reel in the winner. Getting out fourth at the break, as they moved into the stretch jockey R. Dominguez tried to rally her but could not catch the top two in this one and finished third for owner / breeder Alydar Stables. A check for $16.000 was taken home for their effort.
4th # 3 Gester G ~ Looked impressive in that last start against Allowance Company when winning by five. She tried doing the same today but had no such luck. Breaking in third and only a length back, as she came into the stretch she was outrun by the others and finished fourth for owner / breeder Hunterman Stable. They go home with $4.000 in their pockets.
5th # 6 Tropical Thunder ~ Found out turf is just not for her. Making her second start on turf was last of six at the start, as she came home she passed Toxicity to finish fifth for owner and breeder Raginbull.
6th # 1 Toxicity ~ Made her second start against Graded Stakes Company and had another tough race. Beaten by fourteen lengths she went out for owner Chill King Stables.
Congrats to All that took home Cash
