RACE 6 CBY CC Jewel
$150.000 3yo&Up 1 1/8m Main Track 3yo 117 lbs. Older 122 lbs.
The big day at CBY and we take a look at the feature... the CC Jewel, going a mile and an eighth on the main track. As with any of the claiming championship races, it's a wide open affair... but let's take Island Treasure as the top pick. He sure did look good at WO last out, taking an Alw race there while facing some very nice horses. He's not been worse than fourth this year, but does have a tendency to run 2nd... not today - it's a big win!
I'm going to look at Galanth Perce Neige to run big again today. He won at CD last out, and has been tough all year, racking up three wins and a pair of seconds in seven '10 starts. He won at the distance back in Mar, which is another good thing... he has the stuff to be tuff!! The Green Card loves the two horse, so throw him in there somewhere and let's try to hit the triple!
Here's the Field -
1 No Trippin he's had an interesting life since Mar - the Vet stopped by to change his outlook on life, then it was off to the auction block, and now Hambletonian Stable tries to turn him into a stakes winner. Did all of that work, the time off, and a change of barns do the trick? We find out today...
2 Save The Wales has won three of his last four, and you know the barn DOES NOT want to see rain in the forecast. Of his last four races, three were wins, and the other two were defeats at forty-six lengths... Does "all or nothing" ring a bell?
3 Galanth Perce Neige took a starter field in his latest at CD, just getting up on the wire using a great closing effort. Two wins in four starts since changing hands, and that was a solid race going this distance at WO, when second back in May.
4 Crystal Springs previous barn seemed to give up after that seventh in the BG Stakes (GI), and he went to Larkhill Stables for $41.000 in the June Auction. Just missed, getting nailed on the wire at WO in his first start for the new connections. I'm not sure about the distance, but he does have some ability.
5 Annie Girl solid as a rock of late, winning two starts for the new connections, and was a close up second in the other. She was fifth in a stakes to close out the '09 season, so she's seen a bunch of good horses. Now, is the distance the right thing and should they go after the boys?
6 Island Treasure closed like a freight train to win v. Alw types at WO in his most recent, and has been first or second in seven of his eight '10 starts. The time of that win was very impressive, and he may be ready to move on to the next level.
7 Sensual Standard laid-up since Nov and came back v. cheaper, scoring with a closing effort that certainly didn't show any rust. He's another that can rip off a few wins in a row, but he gets beat by 15-20 lengths at times, as well.
