Sophomore Sprint

2/16/2008 18:45 BM Race #10 6f Dirt Stake

Purse $55.000 For Three Year Olds.  Additional Requirements: Have not won a Graded Stake since 8/16/2007

Weight 120 lbs.

Graded Stake win since 5/16/2007 +6 lbs.

Graded Stake win since 2/16/2007 +4 lbs.

Stake win since 2/16/2007 +2 lbs

1 Ghost Rider                Bl.c.3 Lb 122

Emerald Racing Inc         Sire- Spirited Bombay

(171 45 .26)                    Dam- Fizzy

Schvaneveldt C P

(264 59 .22)

Top SRF- 91

PP1- The winner of the CrtrmS at CRC last July was outrun last out in the mud at SA in the SSMDsh in his 2008 debut. Two back to cap the '07 season he finished strong to take the FG allowance by a length for his 3rd career win. He worked 5 furlongs at SA on the 9th of this month in 1:00 handily for 6th best on the day of 27. Schvaneveldt in the irons and has been hot to start off this campaign. The son of Spirited Bombay shows a nice turn of foot stretch and he should be in position to show that ability off once again. Strong contender.

2 Crème Fraiche             B.c.3 bs 122

Hambletonian Stable        Sire- Crème de La Fete

(119 14 .12)                     Dam- Chicks For Free

Gutierrez Mario

(251 31 .20)

Top SRF- 94

PP2- This colt is making his 2008 debut having last raced in October of last year. He comes in off a 5 race winless streak last visiting the winner's circle at CBY after scoring the win in the NLFStk convincingly by 5 lengths. He worked a handy 3 furlongs here at BM in :35 on the 12th 3rd best on the day. He gets the additions of blinkers and a shadow roll for just the second time as well. Gutierrez tapped to get this one back to his sophomore form. If he can regain previous form, he will factor in the outcome Saturday. If not…

3 Pertinaz                       Bl.c.3 120

Spongebob                      Sire- Relampago

(120 11 .09)                    Dam- String Quartet

Baze R A

(277 44 .16)

Top SRF- 95

PP3- A winner of three of his last five comes in off the starter allowance win at SA in his first main track run of new connections. Claimed last November for $32.000 at GG he makes his first foray at the stakes level. Blew out a :22.4 two furlong work here on the 13th in preparation. Perennial NoCal top gun Baze gets the call. A stalking type of runner who could see this one set up nicely to his advantage. Do not overlook his chances

4 Runner Jocker                 Gr.3.3 L 120

Salamanca Stable                Sire- Joker De Rosas

(275 42 .15)                         Dam- Spinning Hill

Alvarado F T

(255 37 .15)

Top SRF- 91

PP4- After starting off his career with three straight wins he is still looking for that elusive 4th. Just missed as runner up two back and last out was beaten 11 lengths in the slop coming home 4th. The son of Joker De Rosas breezed a quick 4 furlongs on the 6th in :47.3, 3rd best of the day. Alvarado has been aboard him in four of his last six so, is the natural choice. Two of his wins have come from the front end and that should be where he is once again. That being said, he will have plenty of competition come stretch to hold off.

5 Gold Time Clock           B.c.3 Ls 120

Angelos Stable                 Sire- Time Clock

(273 46 .17)                     Dam- Garden Village

Bisono A

(153 18 .12)

Top SRF- 96

PP5- Consistent runner with five of seven in the money finishes to date. He was a winner last out at GG with a strong stretch bid to get up by a1/2 a length for his 2nd career win. Son of Time Clock will be making his first stakes start. He threw a sharp 5 furlong down the 10th in :59, second best of the day. Bisono takes his first trip aboard this one. Looks to have possibly turned the corner off last outing and poses a threat in this one. Solid play.

6 Bocephus                     B.c.3 120

Ryan Express                   Sire- Auto-Generated

(10 0 .00)                         Dam- Auto-Generated

Kaenel K

Top SRF- 89

PP6- One of two Auto-Generated in this field hasn't seen the winner's circle in quite some time. He was no factor over the GG turf last out routing in allowance company. Hit the main track on the 4th working 5f in 1:01.3 7th overall for the day. Kaenel has the mount and does not get a good draw for this one. While he has been around the mark he lacks the consistency for my tastes here. Prefer others.

7 Gogonumber35            B.c.3 B 122

Camberwell                      Sire- Auto-Generated

(97 10 .10)                        Dam- Auto-Generated

Silva C I

(67 11 .16)

Top SRF- 92

PP7-The only other Auto-Generated colt entered debuted with a pair of wins including the OKCJuv at RP in September. He hit the stakes trail at that point. A non-factor in his last three starts managing a pair of sixth place runs in the process. He has been working a steady 1:13 range over 6f here at BM. Silva gets the ride and the far outside draw here. While he seems to have been overmatched in his last three starts, this race could be just what the doctor ordered for connections. Big run could provide the big upset.

Selections-

1- Ghost Rider- throw out last, will be tough here

5- Gold Time Clock- rounding into form in the mix at the wire

4- Runner Jocker- should set the pace; hangs on for a piece here
