BM Derby - 1 1/16 Turf $75.000 3yo
The 2007 rendition of the BM Derby had 7 fine three-year-olds headed to the starting gate and a perfect lawn was set for these sophomores to go at it. Paradise Stable's New World made every pole a winning one, scoring his first stakes victory and stopping the timer in 1:42 flat. Police Story, the post-time favorite from Team 7 Illusions, was just off the flank of the winner but could never get by the top one, just missing at the wire. Pretty Farms' Rumors, making his first stakes attempt, closed down the lane to take the show position. It should be noted that this one continues to show promise over longer distance. 88 Jayhawk's consistant running Thunder Mesa, sent off at more than 30-1, was able to hold on for the minor puse money. Sleepless Fantasy, North Touch and the tiring Platinum rounded out the rest of the field.
Chalk-up another stakes winner for the fine stallion Rhythm, also owned by Paradise Stable. With two full siblings in the barn as well, "Paradise" may be the key word for this group.
