Tuesday brought seven races to BEU. No owner won more than once, and many more got close in a day filled with tight finishes.
In fact, five races were won by margins of a length or less. Starting in the opener, LYNSDERS GLORY (Nynl Stables) rallied from sixth as the 2-1 favorite, breaking his maiden by a neck. This trend continued in the next three races, with STRANGE SARTO (Sunset Stables), LIBERTY GOLD (Emerald Racing Inc), and RED RIVER BOY (Maxmillion Farm) winning the second, third, and fourth by slim margins.
Finally, the last photo finish came in the sixth. It was a one-mile route for older fillies and mares in for a tag, and I KISSED A GIRL (C M R Racing) was determined to control it from the get-go. The three year old filly dueled for the lead throughout, briefly losing it heading into the homestretch but fighting back to the wire. Her effort was rewarded with her seventh win of 2009, which she notched by a neck at odds of 5/2.
W T Cloninger Jr led all jockeys with four victories on the afternoon.
