Track: Fast
A great Saturday for racing at BEU saw six fields of horses go postward. The day was topped by the Bicker Memorial Handicap, but there was plenty of action on the undercard as well.
The two races leading up to the Bicker couldn't have been more different. In the fifth, B B SPECIAL (Simmer Down Stable) sat well off the pace before storming to the front in the stretch. The three year old gelding them pulled well clear, coming under the line ahead by three widening lengths. Meanwhile, one race later, HOOTCHIE DANCER (Clarksfork Bloodstoc) dueled for the lead all around the track, but had to hold off PADUA HILLS (Nakamura Stables) in the lane after that one charged from last. The wire came just in time, though, as the former prevailed in a head-bobbing finish.
The day's feature, the Bicker, was won by DANI ROSE (Emerald Racing Inc). A three year old filly by Dani Roll, she notched her fourth win in 18 career starts in last-to-first fashion, hitting the wire clear by three-quarters of a length in 1:45.99 for the 1 1/16-mile distance. S S B M (Dandy Dan Stables) made a charge of her own, rallying from fifth to be second, while SA MAJESTE LA ROSE (Ringleader) checked in third after stalking the pace the whole way.
W T Cloninger Jr led all riders with three wins on the day.
