The Turn Back The Alarm Handicap Grade III
For Fillies & Mares Three Year Olds And Upward
Going a Mile and a Sixteenth on the Dirt Course
For a purse of $100.000
at Belmont Park
on Saturday October 29, 2011
The Belmont Park main track would receive a little precipitation as the snow came through the area over the weekend. Just enough to make the course come up good. As stated earlier in the preview, this was something that the weather man predicted, but at that time, I did not feel like it would have an impact on the race. With the track coming up only good, the weather looks like it played its part within this race. The mudders certainly did well, and those who had not faired well over an off going, did not do as well. Overall lets get to the 2011 The Turn Back The Alarm Handicap Grade III.
Miss Rainbow received the ride of her life from Alan Garcia. Alan got her out of the gate and sat last in the field of six about five lengths in the opening quarter. She does not mind racing from well off the pace and she would have to do just that. She headed to the half and was now six lengths from the leader, and she was all alone back there. As this duo headed into the far turn they shorten their distance to three lengths. Alan swung her out to be three wide, and set her up for the stretch run. Into the stretch she rallied from well off the pace, three wide to get up to be cleared by three quarters of a length. This is her fifth consecutive win, and fourth consecutive win for her new owner Barcelona Farms. This win today serves as her second Graded Stakes win, and she is two for two over the off going. She covered the one mile and a sixteenth on the good dirt in 1:42.78.
Ballroom Dancer was the early pacesetter. She went out to get the lead from the break away from the gate. She opened the first quarter in a decent :23 flat. Ramon Dominguez was aboard and he slowed her down going to the half to post a :46 and four fifths. That means that quarter was :23 and four fifths. She would continue well on the lead but into the far turn Gwanako pulled along side her by a nose. The three quarters went in 1:11 and one fifth. That was a :24 and two fifths. Dominguez was trying to get her home to the wire. Into the stretch she was on the lead, but would get beat by a flying Miss Rainbow on the outside to finish second for owner Angelos Stable.
Gwanako was ridden by Javier Castellano. From the gate she was pressed right up on the pace to be a quarter length off of Ballroom Dancer going to the opening quarter. As she headed to the half she was still a quarter length from the leader. Into the far turn she advanced to be up as close to Ballroom Dancer by a nose. Into the stretch she started to fall back to be three quarters of a length at the mile. In the final half furlong she faded to finish third for owner Dynark Stables.
Fomenta was ridden by Cornelio Velasquez. Out of the gate she ridden to be third by two lengths. She would remain in third throughout the next half mile. Into the stretch she faded to be fourth, and would finish there for owner Aml Racing.
Bcc Dancing Duck was out of the gate to be fifth out of six. In the opening quarter she was three lengths behind. Into the half mile she was still fifth and three lengths behind. She made a run for it in the far turn to get up to be fourth, but quickly would fade back to be fifth, and finish there for owner Maverick Racing.
Tornado Jack tried to be an early factor in the early going by starting to be fourth. After the half mile she would fade, and go on to finish sixth for owner Maxmillion Farm.
Until next time this is Iwin signing off!
