The Bold Ruler Handicap Grade III
For Three Year Olds And Upward
Going Seven Furlongs on the Dirt Course
For a purse of $100.000
at Belmont Park
on Saturday October 29, 2011

The Belmont Park main track would receive a little precipitation as the snow came through the area over the weekend.  Just enough to make the course come up good.  As stated earlier in the preview, this was something that the weather man perdicted, but at that time, I did not feel like it would have an impact on the race.  With the track coming up only good, the weather looks like it played its part within this race.  The mudders certainly did well, and those who had not faired well over an off going, did not do as well.  Overall lets get to the 2011 The Bold Ruler Handicap Grade III winners.

Mojo Madness under Rajiv Maragh was brought out of the gate and placed right in behind the pace setter Sqaw Perfect the number one.  In the opening quarter he was only a quarter length off the outside of Sqaw Perfect.  As they field headed down the backstretch he moved up to be just a nose away at the half.  By the far turn Sqaw Perfect increased his lead back to a quarter of a length.  Down the stretch he continued to fight with Sqaw Perfect down the stretch to get the lead.  Finally he was able to shake him, but it was too late as Another Major had made his way down the stretch three wide to end in a dead heat with Mojo Madness.  Mojo Madness finished in a dead heat in a time of 1:23.29 for owner Night Rider Stables.  This win today gives Mojo Madness his first Graded Stakes win, and he is now three for three on the off going.

Another Major saved ground out of the gate to be placed fourth by jockey Javier Castellano to be about two and a half lengths from the front.  As the field headed down the backstretch he rallied to get up to be third about two and a quarter length.  Into the far turn he started to rally to remain to be third by two and a quarter lengths.  Javier Castellano, saw that there was a speed dual in front of him, and he was about to take advantage of this.  Javier swung Another Major three wide down the stretch.  He came flying to lock up with Mojo Madness, to finish in a dead heat.  The time was 1:23.29 and Another Major is owned by Chili King Stables.  This win today gives Another Major his third Grade III win, and his third win over an off track in just four starts.

Sqaw Perfect was sent right to be on the lead by Alex Solis.  They opened the first quarter with a two and a quarter length lead with a time of :23 and one fifth.  By the half mile Mojo Madness was only about a nose away, and the half went in :45 and three fifths.  That is a :22 and two fifths.  That is a considerable quick quarter consider the going, and the opening quarter.  As the field went into the far turn, and hit the three quarters Sqaw Perfect was able to get away by a quarter length to a three quarters of a mile time in 1:09 and one fifth.  That was a :23 and three fifths.  This shows that Sqaw Perfect was slowing down with just a furlong to go.  In the stretch he faded a bit to allow Mojo Madness and Another Major to go on to finish third for owner Ekli Stables.

Jammer Cat was out of the gate to be third and was about two and a quarter lengths from Sqaw Perfect.  As he went down the backstretch he started to fade back to be last of the field of five by three lengths.  Into the far turn he passed the quickly tiring Lucylulu the only filly in the race.  Into the stretch he held off Lucylulu to go on to finish fourth for owner NorthernTraderStable.  This was Jammer Cat first time over the off going, and did not fair well over the off going.  I expect a better outing next time on a fast track.

Lucylulu was another that did not handle the surface all that well.  Out of the gate she broke to be last of five.  Down the backstretch she made a quick rally to be fourth about two and three quarters lengths.  By the far turn she was all washed up and her fight against the boys was over, she was faded to finish fifth for owner Team Furey.

Until next time this is Iwin signing off!
