The BEL meeting wrapped up today bringing summer to an end and signalling the count down to the BC
Race 1 13:00
7 Furlongs Turf Allowance/Claiming Purse $44.000 Open 3 Year Olds And Up Foaled In NY.
Seek The Crown from Big Jd Racing settled last of the three runners but was always travelling well and picked up nicely to score by a handy two lengths. This evergreen five year old was claimed a few races back and has maintained his form well for his new stable. Ticket Stub went off as favourite but did not finish off well after holding a close stalk early on, third and last was Light Up The Sky who faded from an early lead.
Race 2 13:20
7 Furlongs Turf Claiming Purse $30.000 Open 3 Year Olds And Up.
Kamikaze pilot from Phantom Stables came from a close stalk to win by a game half length in what was a drop in grade for the four year old autogen. The seven race winner was claimed by Angelos Stable after the race. Forever Hollywood also found a claim from Pjr Farms after running his usual honest race in second. Another half back in third was Falcon Ready who came late and hit the line well looking very much like he needed an extra furlong or two.
Race 3 13:40
1 Mile Turf Allowance Purse $59.800 Filly 2 Year Olds.
Tempe Temptress from Boomtown Stable thrived over this longer trip with a smooth one length success. Never far off the pace he held his position with ease and produced a good turn of foot to follow up her maiden win last time out. This filly has been working very well and this winning time was close to graded stakes pace and she should be able to take the next step. Mamma Smith held the rail well and kept on well in an improved performance for second. This was the runner ups first ry on the turf and she looked better for the experience. Advice was three quarters back in third after running right on the speed but toiling down the stretch as she tired.
Race 4 14:00
1 1/16 Mile Turf Allowance Purse $57.000 Open 3 Year Olds And Up.
The Machine from Nakamura Stables took his sixth win in a row with an impressive two length win in the final race of the meet. Never far off the speed he won hard held and is clearly developing nicely as he ages. Consensus stayed on nicely for second in his first race for his new stable whilst third placed Kickin Stones ran well for a long way before the kitchen got too hot down the stretch.
The race for the trainers title was won after a great battle by Dynark Stables whose treble yesterday wrapped it up. With fourteen wins from ninety five races however it took a lot of hard work from the champion trainer to secure this title. Barcelona Farms took second in what is a familiar one two in this type of contest. Running Farms made a valiant effort in third with nine wins but a lack of runners in the last week or so saw their effort wane.
