Fashion Milieu dignifies her last two wins as she scored another in superb "fashion" by winning the $100.000 Washington Lassie GIII for two-year-old fillies at
Arlington
Park on September 10.
Six fillies went to the gate and all broke evenly with rail running Shimmering Socialite having a clear advantage and not waste any time as she sprung to an early one length lead over the rest of the field as the other fillies were matching stride for stride as if they were in a stepping showdown. After the first quarter the field began to take shape as Fashion Milieu shook free from the other and challenged the leader early out. Busted Laff and Kates Reign were behind by two lengths.
The half want in a fast 46 1/5 seconds as the fillies turned on the pressure Busted Laff tried to make a sneaky move on the leaders but the fillies increased the momentum up front as they approached the final turn. It was only two lengths that separated the front from the back so at this point any one of these fillies had a shot at the win. Queen of the Peter was about six lengths at the back and closed steadily as she covered Kates Reign and Larkhill Lucille with five gigantic strides and was set to make a run at the leaders.
Shimmering Socialite fought willingly on the rail but found Fashion Milieu to good as she gave way to the new leader. With a furlong left to go Buster Laff put in her bid for the lead but Fashion Milieu kept moving while Queen of the Peter was closing with every stride.
Fashion Milieu was much the better in the field as she held on for a length victory over Busted Laff and the fast finishing Queen of the Peter. Larkhill Lucille past a fast fading Shimmering Socialite for the fourth spot with Kates Reign more than seven lengths at the back rounding out the field.
