                           Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf

One Mile Turf for Two Year Old Fillies

                                      Purse: $1,000.000

Hello again from Churchill Downs where on Friday November 4, 2011 we had a field of fourteen Young Fillies looking to make a mark here at the Breeders Cup. It was a thriller on Friday, as we ended it in a Dead Heat. Lets take a look at the race shall we.

This years winners of the BC Juvenile Fillies Turf are # 7 Silver Nevada 15/1 and # 8 Princess Elektra 8/1, as they were the two that ended in a Dead Heat. First lets talk about Silver Nevada she was coming into this off of two off the board finishes in two Grade III races. She then was sold by Ken Allan to owner The Fox for $250.000 and was put right into the Breeders Cup. Now Princess Elektra had come in off a pair of second place finishes and looked sharp and ready to go in the Breeders Cup and the two were unbelievable in this one. Getting out of the gate and hanging around each other at the start, as the two made their way into the turn the two ladies hooked up. Jockey Daniel Centeno on # 7 Silver Nevada and Kent Desormeaux on # 8 Princess Elektra and there was nothing between them, as the two jocks were getting their fillies to dig in. As they hit their final strides to the line their noses hit the wire together. The photo came back as a Dead Heat with the girls running the mile on the sod in 1:33.90. A big Congratulations to owners The Fox and owner Kopites on a hell of a race. This is the first BC Win for owner The Fox and the second for owner Kopites. The two owners grab $400.000 a piece for their efforts.

3rd # 10 Far Antares ~ A winner in three of her last four had looked to put another win onto her resume. Getting out twelfth of fourteen at the break and stuck in behind horses, bas she made her way into the stretch she found some daylight and jockey Robby Albarado got her moving and closing in on Silver Nevada and Princess Elektra. It was too late as the wire came and she finished a half a length behind the two fillies. She went out for owner and breeder Barcelona Farms and the owner gets a check for $160.000.

4th # 12 Nightly Dame ~ Came in looking to surprise the competition, as the filly made her way to the gate at 60/1. Making her third start on the sod was away well from post twelve getting out and put on the lead by jockey D. Bell, as she hit the top of the lane she was passed bye the top two and # 10 Far Antares came late to get bye her at the wire and she settled for fourth. She went out for owner and breeder Brad Bronco and the owner picks up a check for $40.000.

5th # 6 Wild Flirtation ~ One for One on the sod owner Sanny Village was looking for her to make it two for two. Away sixth at the break, as she was bottled up in the lane jockey Emma Jane Wilsons grabbed some running room and she moved up to finish fifth.

6th # 5 Blu Crown ~ Came in looking to get off to a good start for new owner Running Farms. The filly was sold by owner Ken Allan for $160.000 and she was going to make her first start here in the BC. Out of the gate and running ninth, as she turned the corner she rallied to get up for sixth.

7th # 11 Cheap Kasey ~ A winner of three in a row and at three different tracks was hoping to pull it off, as the public gave her the nod as the post time favorite. The winner of the Jessamine in the last one was out running thirteenth at the break, as she tried getting the closer she weaved in and out of track under jockey Shaun Bridgmohan only to finish seventh for owner and breeder 30west.

8th # 14 Die Happy ~ The second of two entries for owner Ken Allan comes in off a pair of seconds, with one of them coming in the Grade III Miss Grillo, as the favorite. Going off at double digit odds in this one was out and running eighth, as she pulled herself closer to the leader she was in the middle of a pack that hit the line together. She finished eighth for owner and breeder Ken Allan.

9th # 1 Flowers In Your Hair ~ The winner of the Grade III Miss Grillo and the filly with the highest speed figure 96 just did not get there on Friday. Last of fourteen at the break, as she tried making up ground with jockey Jose Lezcano she did but not enough finishing ninth for owner and breeder Jerry Garcia Racing.

10th # 2 Extreme Delight ~ Ran off the board in the Grade III Miss Grillo and was looking to bounce back here in the BC. Out of the gate and sitting seventh, as she came into the stretch she was a bunch of others and hit the wire to finish tenth for owner and breeder Two Fields Stables.

11th # 4 Hold The Music ~ The first of two entries by owner and breeder Ken Allan was looking to build off that Minor Stakes Victory at LRL. Away tenth at the break and five lengths from the lead, as she turned into the stretch she chased the others to finish eleventh.

12th # 9 Faithful Lucy ~ Came in at odds of 229/1. Fifth in her last start in the Grade III Miss Grillo was out second at the break, as she started to back up after the quarter she went on to finish twelfth for owner and breeder Pjr Farms.

13th # 13 True Sweetness ~ The winner of the Grade III Natalma at Woodbine was a perfect two for two on the sod. Away fifth at the break, as she started to back up she went on to finish thirteenth for owner and breeder Hunterman Stable.

14th # 3 Melo Cute ~ A pair of thirds in Grade III races just never got going for owner and breeder Sarah Stables, as she finished last of the fourteen starters on Friday.

This is Choppy I am OUT!
